As detailed on MobileMag the
Korean based MCNex has created the smallest VGA camera sensor in the world measuring 5.5 x 2.9mm. It is destined for
use in cell phones and PDAs.
While the units VGA resolution (640×480) sounds poor and low-tech, MCNex is also working on versions
offering 3, 7 and 8 Megapixels. The 3 Megapixel one is said to have an optical zoom, which is impressive for such small
modules.
We can see it now - camera specs, camera buttons, camera pens, camera pizzas ... okay, maybe not that last one.
